Modern teams are becoming more dependent on integrated information systems in their work activities.  Integrating specialized data capture, analysis, and reporting with core business systems such as email, calendar, and document management improves productivity.  Effective information and system integration begins with an Informatics and IT System Assessment of the infrastructure.

Informatics and IT System Assessment

An Informatics and IT system infrastructure consists of the hardware, software, support, and change management processes.
  • Hardware – includes servers, desktops, network, printers, other devices, and the licenses that govern the use of each hardware element.
  • Software – includes operating systems, email, calendar, specialized applications for information capture, analysis, and reporting, and the licenses that govern the use of each software element.
  • Support – descriptions of the sponsors, users, and administrators of the hardware and software, the system dependencies, and service level agreements (SLA).
  • Change management – details the client’s processes for making modifications to hardware, software, and support.

Documenting the Informatics and IT system infrastructure creates the foundation for proactive system and information management, planning, and effective integration.  SymCognition, LLC will partner with clients to inventory technical assets – hardware, software, support, and change management processes and produce an Informatics and IT System Assessment.  Strengths, weaknesses, risks, and costs will be identified and explained.  Where applicable, practical steps to mitigate weaknesses and risks will be communicated.
